Does your BMW need a service?

An Inspection

This can either be an Inspection I or an Inspection II. Both inspections are a major service involving a detailed and thorough check of your BMW, paying particular attention to the engine, fuel system, brakes, suspension and other safety related parts. The two inspections differ where an Inspection II includes all of Inspection I, plus a check over the more durable aspects of your BMW, which include spark plug renewal, parking brake lining thickness check and main fuel filter renewal. Service Interval/Residual Mileage Service Interval Indicator Naturally, you want to keep your BMW in peak condition - which means ensuring that it receives the specialist servicing and maintenance it needs, at the appropriate times. Thanks to the advanced technology of BMW's Service Interval/Residual Mileage Service Interval Indicator nothing could be simpler. With most cars, service intervals are fixed, and based solely on distance covered. Your BMW is fitted with a far more sophisticated system that actually takes into account your driving style, and calculates service intervals accordingly.

Using the Residual Mileage Indicator Note:

Only applicable for 3 Series models from 1998.

As soon as you switch on the ignition, your BMW's Residual Mileage Indicator will show you the remaining number of miles before maintenance work is needed. It will also indicate whether an inspection or Oil service is due. The residual mileage figure is reduced in 50 mile steps until the next maintenance work is due. If maintenance work is overdue, the display will flash and a minus sign will appear before the figure. In addition, by pressing the right hand button on the instrument cluster, you can call up the date for your next brake fluid renewal. The clock symbol remains visible all the time if a brake fluid change is due.
